American Val Winters goes to Paris to meet the expatriate divorced mother she has never known. While there she and Harvard footballer Bob Blake fall in love. When Bob brings his parents to meet her, Val's mother is revealed to have been for years the mistress of married André de Graignon. This discovery causes major problems.
